What are oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs)?
Oligomeric proanthocyanidins, more commonly known as OPCs, belong to the class of polyphenols which are found in abundant quantities in grapes and more abundantly in their seeds. They are combinations of catechin and epicatechin units (monomers) in which two to a maximum of different monomers are present - mainly dimers and trimers. Due to the polyphenol structure, and therefore numerous -OH groups present in the molecule.
