What are food supplements?
Food supplements are foods - and not drugs - and as such they are regulated and subject to all applicable food laws. They are concentrated sources of nutrients or other substances with a nutritional effect, for example vitamins, minerals, etc. or physiological (for example plant extracts), whose purpose is to supplement the normal diet and contribute to the well-being of the organism. They are marketed in pre-dosed forms, that is, designed to be taken in small measurable and measured quantities to guarantee consumers safety and correct use. They usually come in the form of tablets, capsules, tablets, chewing gum, sachets of powders, vials of liquids, vials and bottles, droppers and other similar forms of liquids and powders.

What is the difference between food supplements and functional foods?
Supplements are concentrated sources of nutrients or other substances with a nutritional or physiological effect, in forms such as capsules, tablets, chewing gum, sachets…. The so-called "functional food", or functional foods, are food products that boast health properties - eg. yogurt, cereals, milk - due to the addition of specific substances, such as vitamins, minerals, omega-3s, phytosterols, fibers, etc.
